Sophie Watson (Some Such) is a Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland based illustrator and art tutor. Her quirky, engaging books, zines and prints are influenced by her training in printmaking and her love of vintage picture books and analogue art processes.

She is interested in zines as a vehicle for visual storytelling and her latest zines explore more experimental formats and print production methods. Her work often features animals or made up creatures posed to evoke particular moods or states of mind.

Sophie has been a casual zine maker since 2009 and has garnered three ‘Best of the Fest’ awards at the Auckland Zinefest. She has not and will not ever use AI in the creation of her work, believing that the struggle and difficulty are part of the process and where you learn and hone your craft.
