The Freedom Shop

Saturday 1 August

The Freedom Shop is a small anarchist collective based in Te Whanganui-a-Tara. We have a shop in Newtown where we sell books, pamphlets, zines, stickers and stuff covering subjects including anarchism, feminism, colonisation, gender issues, anti-racism, prisons, history and international struggles.

In addition to running the shop, we write and publish our own pamphlets, reprint texts from elsewhere, screen print tote bags and patches, hold public talks and film screenings and make cards and badges.

Our collective celebrated its 30th birthday last year, possibly making us Aotearoa’s longest running radical bookshop ever. We plan to stick around until capitalism, patriarchy, colonialism and all the other forms of violent stupidity are replaced with something nicer. Which is taking longer than we expected – why do you put up with this shit?
