Ditch your screens and get lost in the world of zines, print and DIY art across two jam-packed days. Auckland Zinefest is back for its 18th annual winter market at the beautiful Auckland Art Gallery Toi o Tāmaki. Join us for a weekend of zines galore, with stalls, activities, and a chance to indulge in creativity.
Discover the zine works of over 120 makers from Tāmaki Makaurau and beyond. Spread across three spaces (Te Ātea, South Atrium, Grey Gallery), each day will have different zinemakers showcasing self-published zines filled with art, photography, comics and everything in between. You’re sure to find something that speaks to you.
But, what is a ‘zine’? Zines are DIY publications made by anyone with something to say – sharing stories and ideas you won’t usually find in mainstream media. Rooted in activist, punk and fandom cultures, they cover everything from niche interests to bold ideas.
Come meet zinemakers, swap stories, get crafty and leave inspired with a bag full of new treasures!

Auckland Zinefest Market Weekend Map PDF
Info Desk, Ground Floor
11am-4pm
Do it all! Get your Stamp Rally booklet at our info desk and start exploring, collect stamps on a self-guided trail across 6 zinefest areas. The info desk is also where you can pick up a market programme and check out our 2026 merch range including tote bag, keychains and risograph notepad.
South Atrium and Grey Gallery, Ground Floor

Browse the zinefest market stalls across the Ground and Mezzanine levels, with more than 120 zinemakers, you’re bound to find something that speaks to you.

Browse a collection of award-winning zines or challenge yourself with our random zine idea generator to make your very own zine to take home. Feel proud of your zine creation? You can enter it into our 2026 Best of the Fest Awards.
East Terrace, Level 2
11am-12pm, 2-3pm
Create a unique badge out of collage materials to take home for free. Join us for one of two sessions where our friendly AZF volunteers will help you make a one-of-a-kind badge.
12pm-3pm
Create a teeny-tiny zine you can use as a wearable badge, magnet or just for fun. Make one with a message or drawing as a fun momento.
11am-4pm
Take a breather outside in the East Terrace with plenty of space to relax. Enjoy the connection to nature with views of Rangipuke (Albert Park) and purchase kai from one of our vendors, Lucky Mate and Delicious Dosa. You can eat and drink in this space, but please note you won’t be able to carry kai and drink back into the building.

Zines are all about expression and creativity. They can include comics, paintings, poetry, photography and literature. Zines can take any form and be about anything.

Auckland Zinefest is a grass-roots organisation that celebrates zine culture, crafts and all things DIY. We organise free markets, workshops and other events to bring the zine community together and make art accessible to all.

Cash
Some stallholders will have EFTPOS or bank transfer options, but cash (especially small notes and coins) is still your best bet for quick and easy zine buying.
The gallery front desk, shop and cafe do not provide cashout, the nearest ATM is at the ASB Bank on the corner of Queen St and Wellesley St.Totebag
Bring a bag to keep you new zines safe from folds, bumps and any rain. We’ll also have a limited supply of paper bags available at the info desk or check out our merch and get yourself a limited edition AZF2026 tote bag. -
Entry into the gallery and zinefest is 100% free! Our acitivites are also free with materials provided.

Public Transport
Use the AT Journey Planner to map from your location to Auckland Art Gallery Toi o Tāmaki. The Gallery is about a 15 minute from Waitematā train station and the Auckland CBD Ferry Terminal. Both the Outer and City Link buses stop just minutes away; the OuterLink bus stops on Wellesley Street East near the AUT and the CityLink bus stops on Queen Street near the corner of Wellesley Street East.Car or Rideshare
Entrance to the gallery is on Kitchener Street, there is a loading zone just as you turn in. The best and most affordable parking options are the AT Victoria Car Park ($11 all day) or the Wilson Car Park o Kitchener Street ($15 all day via Parkmate). -
Yes! All zinefest stalls and activities are wheelchair accessible via the main foyer lifts. There are accessible carparks on Kitchener Street just 10m from the gallery entrance, the Victoria Street Carpark also has accessible parking spots.

Out of respect and manaakitanga for the exhibiting artists and gallery kaimahi (staff) we ask that you please don’t eat any food or drink while in the gallery.
If you need a place to eat, we recommended heading up to the East Terrace on Level 2 where you can also purchase kai from one of our vendors. You can eat and drink in this space, just remember not to bring food and drink back into the gallery.

There will have two food vendors in the East Terrace on Level 2 serving up delicious kai on both days.
Lucky Mate food truck brings together Asian food culture and the warmth of home-grown hospitality. East meets Aotearoa – a little different yet familiar at the same time. Choose from steamed bao – our BBQ pork classic or a Belgian chocolate bao served with a scoop of ice cream – alongside har gow, siu mai, and bubble milk teas. Vegetarian options available.
Delicious Dosa is offering genuine dosa delicacies with homemade blends of spices, carefully crafted to satisfy health-aware taste buds. Gluten free with vegan and meat options available, catering to all food lovers.
The Gallery Cafe on Level 1 serves meal and cabinent treats with vegetarian and gluten free options.
